February 2009 – London Tales – David Edward

David Edward paints a vivid picture of a modern city drawing on a broad range of characters from corporate schemers to juvenile knife fiends. But the common thread and a clue to the title of the book is that in almost every story - and for various reasons both benign and sinister - the narrator or lead character is spinning a tale. In other cases, the narrator or lead characters struggle in a scenario set in train following a deceit or tale contructed by a third party.  

By turns lyrical, controversial and laugh out loud funny, these nine stories cover universal themes but what the characters also have in common is how London with its distinct rhythm and pace is drawn out to provide the backdrop against which their dramas are played out.

This edition draws on a long tradition of slang dictionary writing to provide an up to date guide to current slang usage. It contains hundreds of examples of current usage with a user friendly layout for easy access.

August 2011 – Perishable Goods

Set in London in the mid nineties, the story is a comic narration of the temporary alliances and fall-outs between four very different characters as they pursue their cravings for drugs, kicks, tabloid fame and artistic status in London.

One of the main themes relates to the commoditisation of human interactions and much of the comedy and drama arises from the transactions these very different characters make among each other in pursuit of their objectives.
